Gaetz, Gohmert, Gosar, and Green, all Republican Reps from red states, announced on Monday that they were going to have a press conference on the steps of the Department of Justice at just about the time the Select Committee on 1/6 would probably break for lunch.
That's Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.), Louie Gohmert (R-Tx.), Paul Gosar (R-Ca.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), all of whom are big players in the Own-a-Lib corps of the Donald Trump Brigade. They were going to demand to know the status and treatment of those arrested for their participation in the January 6th insurrection. They wanted to accuse the DOJ of mistreating those fine, upstanding patriots.
Clearly, these whitewashers wanted to draw the public's focus away from the Select Committee hearings and try to change the conservative-thumping narrative that they knew was on the way.
It backfired. Liberal protestors came out in force, waving signs and shouting and chanting and pretty much canceled the press conference before it started.
Liz Cheney had thoughts, specifically this: “The fact that they’ve gone from recognizing what happened on the 6th to protesting in front of the DOJ on behalf of those who are part of the insurrection… I think it’s a disgrace.” We couldn't agree more.
