5/28/21 Mom Who Killed Her Two Kids is Deemed Unfit to Stand Trial

You probably remember the headlines from 2019 -- they were that horrible.

An Idaho mom named Lori Vallow Daybell, along with her husband, Chad Daybell, killed Mrs. Daybell's two children from her former marriages (four or more).

The remains of JJ Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17, were buried on the couple's property.

Both mom and stepdad were indicted on first-degree murder charges. The couple said the crimes were justified because of their religious beliefs.

This week, Mrs. Vallow Dayball was named "not competent to proceed" to trial after a clinical psychologist evaluated her.

It cannot have surprised those who knew her best. When she and prior husband Charles Vallow divorced, Charles said she needed psychiatric help, describing how she believed that she had lived many former lives on other planets.

Mrs. Vallow Daybell had also confided in a friend that her children had turned into zombies, and that only death would free them from the dark spirits.

For his part, Chad Daybell had a fixation with Doomsday, which is one of the terms used by Christians when they're talking about the Biblical prophesy of the "End Times." That's a series of nightmarish events ending with the return of Jesus to Earth.

Chad Daybell had self-published a number of books on the topic, and Lori Daybell shared his beliefs.

The prosecution is not happy that Ms. Vallow Daybell was deemed incompetent for trial, and a hearing is in the works.
