5/26/21 McCarthy Offers Lip Service to MJT's Critics

Marjorie Taylor Greene doubled down on her antisemitic remarks about face masks on Tuesday. Yet again she talked about face masks and referred to a Nazi symbol. This time she said that in a supermarket, employees could have a "vaccination badge" on their IDs to disclose their vaccination status. MJT compared the badge to the yellow star that Jews had to wear in Nazi Germany.

This time House Republicans had a reaction. Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, said "the House Republican Conference condemns this language." He added, "Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling." No kidding.
McCarthy continued, "The Holocaust is the greatest atrocity committed in history. The fact that this needs to be stated today is deeply troubling . . . . Americans must stand together to defeat antisemitism and any attempt to diminish the history of the Holocaust."
In fact, the level of antisemitic attacks in 2020 hovers near an all-time high, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
McCarthy's message sounds good, doesn't it? Except that's all -- it's just a remark. There's nothing McCarthy said to suggest consequences for MJT’s behavior, such as censure or expulsion. There are not enough Republican votes for it, and besides, the Big Liar (Trump) himself likes her. Nobody wants to draw Trump's wrath just to deal with MJT.
Adam Kinsinger (R-Ill.) figures MJT should be barred from the House Republican Conference. Said Kinsinger, “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: while we cannot stop her from calling herself a Republican, we can and should refuse to let her caucus with the @HouseGOP.”
We've already been waiting a while for MJT's comeuppance. Let's hope it comes soon.
