4/13/21 Rep. Andrew Clyde Makes Georgia the #1 What-the-Heck State in the Country

The title of "Wackiest State in the Union" is up for grabs again, and, not surprisingly, both contenders are from the South.

These days, the state that gave us "Onward thru the Fog" and Kinky Friedman -- the greatish state of Texas -- has been outmaneuvered by good ol' Jaw-ja. That's right, the Peach State, with its voter manipulation and Marjorie Taylor Whatsis, has come up with a flank maneuver that makes even Governor Oops look sharp as a Bowie knife.

All ya'all know how Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) did a do-si-do with the Capitol Police by circumscribing a path around the metal detectors that are now placed outside every door to the House chamber. Like other scofflaws, Gohmert paid a $5,000 fine for his misdeed, which was taken directly from his paycheck.

Gohmert was riled enough to take it to the House Ethics Committee. After talking it over (we confidently assume), the Committee said, "Tough luck, Louie, the fine stands." So far as we know, Gohmert growled for a while and gave up.

Not so Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA). His story is lockstep with Gohmert's, from the sidestep to the fine to the Ethics Committee whine. And again, the Committee said, "You broke the rules, you pay the fine."

Clyde, however, lacked Gohmert's restraint. Clyde now says he's taking the case to federal court. Perhaps he is trying to outdo Marjorie Taylor Whatsis. He has a long way to go for that, but he seems to be on the right path.

Clyde claims that the metal detectors are "unconstitutional." Yep, that's what he says. Clyde even says that he walked around the metal detectors specifically to set up a legal challenge to the metal detectors being there at all.

"I did that so we would have legal standing to take the case to federal court, and that's exactly what I'm going to do," he told Fox News last month. "People have to stand for the Constitution.” Any parent could see through that line.

Without going into further detail -- because who wants to? -- we'd place our bet on Georgia as the nuttiest state so far this year.

And that's not even counting Georgia's voter-suppression bill, because that bill isn't wacko -- it's just plain evil.
