Emily Murphy, Trump's appointed head of the General Services Administration, has single-handedly held up the White House drawbridge since the Election, to stymie President-Elect Biden's transition to power.
Without Murphy's say-so, Biden couldn't begin an agency review -- collecting information from each federal agency about what's going on and what critical decisions and actions need attention first.
Today, Murphy finally gave Biden's team the go-ahead. She had blocked the transition effort for a full two weeks.
Murphy's letter of permission ("ascertainment") to Biden said that she had held off because of incomplete counts and legal challenges to Election results, said that she and her family had received death threats, and claimed that she made the decision without any pressure from the Trump administration.
Almost immediately, Trump tweeted kudos, took credit for directing Murphy's decision, and threw shade at her critics.
Let the Transition begin!
